When is Statistical Inference Used?

Statistical inference is like a detective, figuring things out from clues. It’s used whenever we need to make sense of data and draw conclusions about a bigger group from a smaller one.

In science, when researchers want to know if a new medicine works, they give it to a sample of people and see if they get better. Then, they use statistical inference to decide if the medicine really does work for everyone.

Economists use statistical inference to understand trends in the economy. They might look at how people spend money in one area to guess how they’ll spend it in another.

Even in everyday life, statistical inference is at work. When you flip a coin a few times and it comes up heads every time, you might guess it’s a trick coin. That’s statistical inference!

In short, whenever we have data and want to know more about a bigger group, statistical inference steps in. It helps us make educated guesses and smart decisions, whether we're testing medicine, understanding the economy, or just flipping a coin.
